“The Mark Ginsberg Band and The Generations Project Tour”.
Mark Ginsberg played at the Chapel Theatre on Mother’s Day in 2009 with Judy Campbell’s Mosaic. So impressed by our town and theatre was Mark that he has included Glen Innes in his upcoming tour promoting his new album “Generations” (best independent Jazz album nominee for 2009). Mark’s music is an eclectic mix of musical styles driven by musical explorations that range from singing in a synagogue choir as a young boy, listening to melisma of the hazzan through to hearing strains of Cannonball Adderley and John Coltrane playing on his elder brother’s monophonic turntable, the contemporary jazz emanating from the highly creative music scene in Australia, all combined with the rhythm that’s in the blood of the African people, like a constant heartbeat. Mark emigrated from South Africa, launching his career as a saxophonist in Jazz venues in Cape Town. Mark will be supported by pianist Greg Coffin, with Karl Dunnicliff on bass and Tim Firth on drums. Chapel Theatre, Sunday 21st March, 8pm. Tickets $20 adults / $15 school student available at Carelles Young World 2 weeks prior to the performance. For more information, go to www.markginsberg.com.au
